Bear and Block: Crafting Joy Through Handmade Furniture
Founded in 2020, Bear and Block is run by Andy & Lorna. Our Hertfordshire workshop sets out to create design led products that inject fun and functional pieces into your home & workplace. Andy has a background in cabinet making with a huge passion for modern design. Everything you see here has been designed and made by him.
Ethos
Re-imagining Furniture with Fun & Purpose
We're on a mission to break the monotony of conventional furniture. By blending vibrant colours and alternative designs, we're infusing joy back into every piece. Craftsmanship meets sustainability with our robust creations, employing traditional joinery techniques. Our vision is holistic - minimizing waste and maximizing aesthetics.
Materials
Sustainably Sourced & Thoughtfully Crafted
All of our pieces are designed & made in our workshop. We individually pack and send out too. We use sustainable materials that are hand sourced in the UK ensuring that our boards and veneers boast the FSC certification. Moving beyond commercial options, our finishing touches are applied with natural, oil-based alternatives, rich in quality and low in environmental impact. Every finish, meticulously hand-applied, reaffirms our commitment to reduce wastage.
Design
Standout Designs for Modern Living
Beyond the typical, past the mundane, our designs strive to be the conversation starters in every room. In an era dominated by fleeting furniture trends, Bear and Block seeks to pioneer a revival of meaningful designs - ones that make a statement and stand the test of time.

Our commitment to sustainability is ingrained in our business practices. We prioritise using materials that are sourced sustainably and are guaranteed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This ensures that the wood and paper products used in our operations come from responsibly managed forests.
Additionally, we have implemented comprehensive waste management practices. All of our waste goes through a recycling process, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. We actively promote recycling and have designated recycling bins throughout our facilities.
When it comes to shipping, we strive to use cardboard packaging whenever possible. Cardboard is recyclable and often made from recycled materials, making it a more environmentally friendly choice. Furthermore, we make a conscious effort to re-use packaging materials when practical, minimising waste and reducing our environmental footprint.
By adhering to these sustainability measures, we aim to minimise our impact on the environment and contribute to a more sustainable future.
